Como prometido pela Rockstar Games, no último dia 2 de novembro aconteceu o lançamento do primeiro trailer de GTA V.
A nova história tem como base a perseguição pelo dinheiro e o primeiro vídeo nos mostrou que a série voltará a ser ambientada na cidade de Los Santos, a versão fictícia da cidade de Los Angeles, nos Estados Unidos, que já tinha marcado presença em GTA: San Andreas (2004/ PlayStation 2). Porém, desta vez, o jogo também irá mostrar as montanhas, as áreas campestres e as praias ao redor da cidade. O trailer não contou com nenhum detalhe sobre os personagens principais, tendo como única pista sobre o enredo a voz masculina que narra o vídeo, explicando que se mudou para a cidade para tentar fugir de uma vida de crimes.
A franquia não lançava nada de novo desde 2008, quando saiu Grand Theft Auto IV, seguido das expansões The Lost and the Damned (fevereiro/2009) e The Ballad of Gay Tony (outubro/2009). Após a estreia, o co-fundador da Rockstar, Sam Houser, sem muitos detalhes, explicou que Grand Theft Auto V será o maior e mais ambicioso jogo produzido até hoje pela empresa. Essa nova amplitude dentro da série também irá influenciar a jogabilidade, que virá mais focada para o universo dos jogos de mundo aberto, sendo baseada em missões e com modos para multiplayer online.
GTA V ainda não tem previsão de lançamento, nem data específica nem ano, e ainda não foram anunciadas as plataformas que receberão o jogo.
